Things on my mind

Some of the things that bug me right now, or are not getting enough attention from the Province.

COMMUNITIES

Wildfire response – woefully inadequate and under staffed for the need

  • work with communities not against them
  • Training for community members and VFD’s to help BC Wildfire Service when needed
  • Local rapid response group to put out fires when they’re small
  • We can’t afford the cost of wildfires
    • Importing firefighters from around the world – use local resources
    • environmental damage
      • CO2 – so much emitted from wildfires it’s crazy
      • Toxic substances

Crown Interface Buffer – Every small community under say 10,000 population should be granted a 20 KM crown land buffer

  • community forest
  • forest fuel management
  • Create Jobs
  • Increase Safety

Rural Development – how do we make our areas more self-sufficient and interesting

  • food security
  • High speed Internet communications
  • Economic Development
  • Equitable grants from Province and Federal governments

SAVING MONEY & MAKING MONEY

Smaller, Simpler government – scale it back!

  • Wildfire Response Review – necessary
  • Tax Relief
  • ALR Review
  • ICBC review
  • Review Residential Tenancy Act – increased housing options requires this
  • Gov’t Communication – no imposing solution w no consultation – ie. planning rules

FAMILY & WORK

  • Housing
  • Child care
  • Health care
